How To Jailbreak iOS 6.1.6 Untethered iPhone 3GS & iPod Touch 4G

You probably already heard about Apple's "goto fail" hype which is an SSL security bug in your iOS browser. If you updated your iPod Touch 4G or iPhone 3GS to iOS 6.1.6 to patch the bug, and are wondering how to untether jailbreak your iDevice this writen guide will help you.

  1. Download your iOS 6.0 IPSW corresponding to your device (you download it here)
  2. Download Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 (Mac or Windows)
  3. Right click on Redsn0w and go into properties, then compatibility, and run it compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 3.
  4. Now you can open up Redsn0w and click extras, then select IPSW.
  5. Select your iOS 6.0 IPSW, corresponding to your device and at the bottom click back, and Jailbreak.
  6. Keep in mind Redsn0w only gives you a tethered jailbreak we will need to Boot Tether the device by closing down Redsn0w and reopening it, click extras, then select your iOS 6.0 IPSW.
  7. Mow you can click Boot Tether up at the top.
  8. Once your device comes back on, unlock it, swipe to find Cydia, open it, and wait for the file system to prepare.
  9. When its done you can open Cydia, tap changes, then refresh (only if you dont see any packages) and search for P0sixsPWN. Install it.
  10. And now you have an untethered jailbreak on iOS 6.1.6
